PCT Statistic - 1 January  to 31 December 2010
 

The top PCT applicant in 2010 was, for the second year in a row, Panasonic Corporation from Japan, with 2,154 PCT applications published. Moving up 20 places to second place was the Chinese company ZTE Corporation, with 1,863 applications, and in third place was the US company Qualcomm Incorporated, with 1,677 applications. The top ten filers, which, apart from ZTE Corporation, were also in the top ten in 2009, are listed below, together with the number of international applications that were published in their names:

      For the first time, a Chinese company topped the list of PCT applications in 2008 - Huawei Technologies Co. Ltd, a major international telecommunications company based in Shenzhen, filed 1,737 PCT applications in 2008, and the Japanese company Panasonic Corporation of international applications published in their name, were as follows:

    In 2003, the International Bureau of WIPO received 110,065 international applications filed with PCT receiving Offices worlda decrease of 3.5% compared to 2002.

    Top countries of origin. The table, opposite, shows the top 20 countries of origin of international applications for that period. (Note that applications filed with the European Patent Office, the International Bureau, the Eurasian Patent Office or the African Intellectual Property Organization as receiving Offices (wich amounted to 19.1% of all applications) are included in the figures relating to the countries of residence of the applicants.)
